DBL_human

This format is used in the files persons.dbl and persons8.dbl. (The former file has names in Latin-1, the latter in UTF-8.)

On the rest of this page, "positions" are number of characters on a line (including spaces), counting from 1.

A comment line is empty, or starts with a space.

Fixed position fields for the Latin-1 file:

starting on position 1, length 5: abbrev (a '0' indicates that the field is empty)
starting on position 6, length 19: firstname

The lastname starts on position 26. Other fields are behind that. Fixed position fields for the UTF-8 file:

starting on position 1, length 19: abbrev

The lastname starts on position 22. Other fields are behind that. In this case, the given name is considered part of the last name.
