Western

This format is used in the file w.dbi. Because most Western comics from before 1985 contain original comic stories, we have a special format for both story data and issue data.

On the rest of this page, "positions" are number of characters on a line (including spaces), counting from 1.

A header line has the letter 'h' on position 11. A comment line is empty, or starts with a space. A reprint line starts with an 'r'. All other lines are story lines.

Header lines

After the 'h', the level of the header is given, just like in the DBI format.

Fixed position fields:

position 1 ('r' or 'W') and 2 (a space) are skipped.
starting on position 3, length 8: entrycode
on position 12: level

The title starts on position 14. Other fields (or the above fields, if they don't fit) are behind the title.

Reprint lines and story lines

Fixed position fields:

In case of a reprint line, positions 1 ('r') and 2 (a space) are skipped.
starting on position 3, length 12: entrycode
In case of a story line, starting on position 1, length 14: storycode
In case of a story line, starting on position 20, length 10: creationdate
In case of a reprint line, starting on position 20, length 13: storycode
starting on position 15, length 2: pages
position 17: brokpg
on position 18: pagel
starting on position 33, length 4: writ
starting on position 37, length 4: art
starting on position 41, length 4: ink
starting on position 45, length 4: hero

The title starts on position 49. Other fields (or the above fields, if they don't fit) are behind the title.
