| In which input files is this field used? |
|
In headers of DBI files |
| What should the field look like? |
In the usual files: fixed position
In the usual files (including w.dbi): fixed position
|
| What does the field contain? |
|
The level of a header line. This indicates the actual meaning of the header line.
We distinguish three levels of DBI headers:
- h1. for information about a publication, e.g. AA = Anders And.
- h2. for information about a volume, e.g. AA1987 = Anders And, 1987.
- h3. for information about a specific issue, e.g. AA1987-01.
In DBS files, headers of level 1 and 2 (and 3) give global or more detailed information about a set of stories.
For internal use, we also have level = 0. But this should only be used
in the file dbsnames.dbx.
